Vetting and Registration

Picture
We do not do any of our own veterinarian care. All of our Maine Coon cats (kittens included) are seen by our vets at Hannah Creek Veterinarian Hospital in Benson NC.  Adults are seen annually for exams and updates on shots. Kittens are seen around 9 weeks of age for their first exams and shots. They continue their series of kitten vaccinations each month until they go to their new homes.

We DO NOT deworm our kittens at home. They have a fecal test done at their exam and if they need dewormed, the vet does so. Most of the time the fecal is negative as our cats are not exposed to the outdoors and they do not get worms. Momma cats do not pass on worms because they are worm free. This is not how it used to be years ago but today they are doing very well for some reason. A lot of breeders over medicate puppies and kittens which leads to more flare ups of protozoans we have found. So letting the vet test before administering any meds has really made for more healthy kittens!

All of our cats have been tested for leukemia (FIV/FELV) so you know your kitten has never been exposed. However, we will not guarantee against something so contagious after they leave our care. Please keep this in mind if you have ever had a sick cat in your home that could pass onto your new kitten. We do not vaccinate for leukemia, their feline kitten vaccination is the upper respiratory vax. If you need more coverage, please let us know ahead of time. We follow the guidelines from our vet. If your cat is exposed to outdoors, you will want to vaccinate for leukemia.

We do our best to take our adult cats for echos annually to semi-annually. We normally utilize the cat scan clinics because we can take them all at one time for a discounted price. Echos can range in the $800+ range per cat so when a clinic is being held within a few hours of us, we take advantage!

Registration

Our kittens are sold as pets only unless discussed prior to contract. All of our cats are CFA registered, and so are their kittens. If you need TICA registration, it's easy to transfer CFA to TICA. We do sell with breeding rights but this is a conversation that needs to take place before purchasing as we only price our kittens as pets.

Our cattery is registered with both CFA and TICA.
